Terms of Service
Last updated: 13 June 2026
1. Who we are
MySubcis (the "Service", "we", "us", "our") is operated by MySubcis. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the MySubcis website, applications, and related services. By creating an account or using the Service, you ("you", "the user") enter into a binding agreement with MySubcis.
2. Acceptance of these terms
By accessing or continuing to use the Service you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Notice. If you do not agree, you must stop using the Service. If you are using the Service on behalf of an organisation, you confirm you have authority to bind that organisation. If you are an individual, you confirm you are of legal age to form a binding contract in your jurisdiction.
3. The Service
MySubcis is a Qur'an memorisation and revision tool inspired by the Somali "Subcis" tradition of taking turns ayah-by-ayah. The Service includes free features and paid plans (Pro and Lifetime) which unlock additional functionality such as more reciter partners, multi-partner Subcis sessions, advanced analytics, and larger groups.
4. Your account
You must provide accurate information when creating an account and keep it up to date. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorised access.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to misuse the Service. In particular, you must not:
- use the Service for any unlawful, fraudulent, or harmful purpose;
- send spam or harass other users;
- infringe anyone else's intellectual property or privacy rights;
- upload malware, attempt to probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of our systems, or otherwise interfere with the security of the Service;
- scrape, mirror, or otherwise extract data from the Service in bulk without our written permission;
- reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the Service;
- resell or sublicense the Service.
6. Intellectual property
The Service, including all software, design, text, graphics, audio assets, recitations supplied by third-party Qurra, and the MySubcis branding, is owned by MySubcis or its licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable right to use the Service within the limits of your selected plan, for personal, non-commercial Qur'an revision purposes.
You retain ownership of any content you submit (such as session notes). You grant us a worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, and process that content solely so we can provide the Service to you.
7. Payments, subscriptions and Merchant of Record
Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries and handles returns.
Pro is billed monthly and renews automatically until cancelled. Lifetime is a one-time purchase. Prices are shown in GBP on the pricing page and may be converted to your local currency at checkout. Payment terms, billing, taxes, currency conversion, invoicing, and the right to cancel are governed by the Paddle Buyer Terms, available at paddle.com/legal/checkout-buyer-terms. Refunds are handled in accordance with our Refund Policy.
You can cancel a subscription at any time from your account settings or via paddle.net. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period, and you retain Pro access until then.
8. Service availability and disclaimer
We work hard to keep the Service available, but we do not guarantee that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any defect will be corrected. The Service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent permitted by law we disclaim all implied warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
9. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total aggregate liability arising out of or in connection with the Service is limited to the fees you paid us (via Paddle) in the twelve (12) months preceding the event giving rise to the claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of profits, data, goodwill, or memorisation progress. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for fraud, death, or personal injury caused by our negligence, or any other liability that cannot be excluded by applicable law.
10. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold MySubcis harmless from any claims, losses, or expenses arising from your content, your unlawful use of the Service, or your breach of these Terms.
11. Suspension and termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service, with or without notice, if:
- you materially breach these Terms;
- your payment fails or your account is in arrears;
- your activity creates a security, fraud, or abuse risk;
- you repeatedly or seriously violate our acceptable use rules; or
- we are required to do so by law.
You may stop using the Service and close your account at any time. On termination, your right to use the Service ends. We may delete your account data after a reasonable retention period as described in our Privacy Notice.
12. Changes to the Service or these Terms
We may update the Service and these Terms from time to time. If we make a material change, we will give you reasonable notice (for example by email or in-app notice). Continued use of the Service after the change means you accept the updated Terms.
13. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from these Terms, except where mandatory consumer protection law in your country of residence grants you the right to bring proceedings in your local courts.
14. Contact
Questions about these Terms can be sent to MySubcis via the in-app support channel. Payment, billing, and refund queries should be directed to Paddle at paddle.net.
